I assume that if you regularly post on Y!A Politics, you vote and probably pay your taxes. But what outside this do you do to improve your community, state and nation?

Volunteer at a shelter?
Election judge?
Service organizations?
Coach sports?
Other activities?

When I think of "America," I think of it in smaller terms ~ my neighbors, the townspeople, the shop owners, etc. I don't think about being a "good American" as much as just being a good neighbor and citizen. That's what it's all about, right?

We make regular donations to our local food pantry and we clean up the municipal parks in town.

Before we moved to this small town, we made regular donations to our homeless shelter.

Let's see, I do vote religiously, I pay attention to what the house and the senate is doing. I work, I pay taxes. I am raising my daughter with good morals and a belief in God and Jesus. I am a good citizen who doesn't break laws, so I stay out of jail. I will be volunteering at my daughters school this nest season. I donate to charities like GoodWill and Salvation Army. I belong to and attend a church where I pray for this country and our President. I do my best to help those in need. Yet I am in no way rich with money, but I am rich with family and friends and faith!!

I am a Conservative Republican!

I do research at a DOE lab focusing on fuel cells, catalytic hydrogen production for fuel cells, and eco-friendly composite materials. I'm part of a team of chemical engineers who travel to local elementary and middle schools to demonstrate that chemistry and science can be fun (usually by blowing things up and lighting stuff on fire), which hopefully gets more kids interested in science careers. I'm very active in the Libertarian party, which I think has the potential to make America better. And of course I brew my own beer. America would be a happier place if everybody drank some of my IPA!

Is raising a newborn and 2 year old to be conservatives and taking care of my wife who just had a C-section enough?

HA HA.

I do donate to the local children's hospital every month. Volunteer at the county jail to lead meetings in alcohol and drug abuse every week. Tell all the teenagers in neighborhood riding around with their 2000 watt stereos blasting at full range to turn it down, wink.

I'm a conservative.

I teach community college. I Recycle and try to consume as little as possible, which keeps life simple and uncluttered. I try to live by the words, "live simply, so that others may simply live". I write my congresswomen and senators pretty regularly. I've done work in the past that includes camp counseling for troubled girls, taught art at a senior citizen home and volunteered at a homeless shelter in my area. I try to keep it to my local community and my it a better place to live for all.

BTW, just like JimSock, I've worked since I was very very young. I started working on my father's farm at age 7 and did that every summer until I was 14. I then worked various jobs from the age of 14 to 18 to save for college. And, then I worked full time off and on throughout college. When I wasn't working full time, I was working part time as a tutor, a nanny, and as a maid during college.

I home school my children so that is saving taxpayers over 64,000. per year. I donate to charities. When public school is out, I keep kids free of charge for their parents. We regularly pick up litter down the street we live and we do what ever else comes available.

Oh, I'm a conservative Republican.

Used to coach sports before I got old for many years. Help with Awanas and Bible school. Have taken in a child with disabled parents. Other than donate my time and money, that's about it. Write my Senators and Congressman to no avail.
