I'm having problems with the gas company they keep coming to the house, but since no one is home and no one answers the phone, (although i have no missed calls) they can't just turn on the valve. I 've been at it for 2 weeks, and they say I need to wait until next tuesday. I am furious! I can not wait until tuesday. can anyone help me?? I'm in Georgia...tell me how the lock can be broken. Thanks!!

Arrange to be there when they come - you do not want to get into a legal hassel by tampering with their equipment.

You are likely looking at a heavy fine or maybe jail time for tampering with the gas companies locking device.

They have to make sure there are no problems with the connection. If you illegally unlock the valve and someone gets hurt because of your actions; legal problems with the gas company will be like having a picnic.

Good Luck.

I think the question should be is it natural to get gas pumped to your house for a fraction of its real price when you are a total pig who deserves to be wiped off the face of the earth?!!

If the lock belongs to the gas company, It's illegal to remove it. Also they are supposed to have a 24 hour service number that you can call to have your gas turned on, Even if it is in the evening. For safety they have to light your pilot lights & make sure you gas appliances are working properly. Or you could end up with an explosion if something is not working properly or commected properly.

You won't need the natural gas in jail. Don't mess with the large corporations who own our country. Leave the lock on and do what they want.

I can tell you how to do it,but when they come out to your home, they will notice the gas useage on it and know it was tampered with and they will take the meter altogether and you will have more problems to get it turned back on for real.Get someone to stay at your home so they can turn it back on ,because there maybe a leak,or gas pilots still on and kaboom there you go.There's a law about turning on the gas without anyone home. They have to come in to check anything with gas to check for leaks. So please do as they say or you will have to wait even longer.Been there done that.So just do it the right way,for your sake.Be Safe.P.S.Just rent a room if you can until you can solve this. Thanks

Mine has a little metal tag on it which says, "do not remove penalty 6 months jail or $2500 fine." if you are willing to risk that, it looks like a good old bolt cutter will cut through it.
