♥ Well, I'm going to start 9th grade and I already have the skirt I'm going to wear on the first day of school, lol, I just have to look for the top and everything else.
Its a pink pleated mini skirt with ribbon detail on the top, since I paid kind of a little above my budget money I really want to use on the first day of school.
The thing is... is it alright to wear a mini-skirt on the first day of high school? I'm going to a school where I don't know any one! Since I didn't want to go to my local high school, lol. So I really don't know anything about those people.
Will they think I'm tryng to hard or something. I mean in my old school I wore skirts all the time! I also live in California, where its going to be hot on my first day!
I just want to know if u think its a good idea or a bad one so I can choose another outfit..... Its just I don't want to get a reputation =/

Its not that short, its about 10-13 inches long. Also, I was thinking about adding a pink shirt and hoodie, so I'm covering up at the top. but yeah, I don't want to give a wrong reputation....

Also, I am not low class (to whoever asked that) I consider low class those people how dress plainly with pure jeans and plain tops.

lol I meant to say I have class. Also, my parents didn't buy me the skirt... well not really they gave me money and I bought it, they didn't know... but my mom saw it and siad its not to short.

ok yeah youll get attention and friends....who want to just get in your pants! No mini skirts unless you are wearing those leggings with them. Really what happened to classy?

The first thing you should do is check the school's dress code. They may not even allow mini-skirts. If they do, it all depends on how short it is as to whether or not it is appropriate. If it is at least fingertip length or slightly above, it should be OK if paired with the right shoes and top. Layer a couple of long t-shirts and wear flats. Heels or skimpy tops like halters or tanks will make it look too sleazy. Also - no baby dolls. Too fussy with a pleated skirt.

Wait to wear it, until you see someone else wear it, and the reaction they received. It's better to play it safe. If you don't know the school at all, it could be surprisingly conservative, and have very strict rules on the length of skirts. Also, the school atmosphere may different, and some people might consider a skirt that was normal at your old school as too short. The school could also have a lot of air conditioning, and you might be cold with a skirt. Stick to capris, they're conservative, but can still be cute.

Since you are so caught up in what other people think. Then the mini skirt is not going to be a good idea. Keep it simple like a casual dress or something. The pink pleated mini skirt sounds like to much.

Miss Brunette Barbie, No it is not alright it is all wrong to ever wear a mini skirt in public ! Unless you are looking for a bad reputation ! When you put yourself on display you are inviting evil to come into your life ! Be humble and eager to learn, that is what school is for ! An education can open doors for you that otherwise you will never go through !

ok i live in texas and it's way hotter here then in cali....so I suggest that you don't wear the mini skirt on the first day because you could send the wrong message...high school is more judgemental then middle school...and you are going to go into catergories (wheather you like it or not) and a mini skirt will put you in a catergory that you MIGHT not like to be in...so no mini skirt..how about a skirt, or some jeans????? then the next week you could bust out with the mini skirt :) guys in high school are all horny so don't send the wrong message lol

Um, yeah. I would go with shorts if i were you. I have been the new girl way too many times, and twice last year, which was my sophmore year. You dont want to make a bad impression, or that will lead you into some trouble. Trust me, Ive been there. But dont look too casual, you should still sorta dress up. Wear the skirt on your 2nd day! Hope you have funn. =]

I dont think people are going to judge you bud wearing a cute outfit does show you have a sence of style. I know how you feel. I think you should wear the mini skirt since you already have it and mabey were a plain top and not so noticable jewerly.

I would wear a pair of jeans the first day and the mini skirt later that week. It's alot easier because the first day can get a little crazy, ya know? that's what I'm gonna do..

I think a skirt would be fine. But pay attention to the length of it - if its really short that it can show err..things not meant to be seen - then maybe reconsider. Also be sure to wear a pair of booty shorts underneath. Think about the things you'll be doing and classes you'll have and if its practical. Otherwise i'd say its just fine
