This just proves that after 4 1/2 years at war, Al Qaeda is bigger and more powerful than ever.
I think 4 1/2 years is enough time to see that the US is losing this war, and fast!

Alpha Male: Nowhere did I state or even imply that
your "bleeding everyday to protect my freedom means nothing". So stop feeling sorry for yourself and stop being so melodramatic.

This just does not prove that after 4.5 years at war, Al Qaeda is bigger and more powerful than ever.
It is also not correct to think that 4.5 years is enough time to see that the US is losing this war, and fast!
Because the longer the so-called war on terror will be the better it is for the US allied economy and the control over the oil pipe line will continue. It is like head I win tail you lose. The USA and its allied forces first of all tried to portray Saddam as a very big power with WMD and then said sorry it was mis-information. Now if Al-Qaida.is not portrayed as a super power US people would go against its own government for giving blood for oil! So show and portray Al-Qaida as powerful and strong as the US-UK allied forces and justify the big powers presence in the Middle East, what a crude theory. Is the US-UK allied power thinks the whole world as well as their own people fool enough not to understand the economic gain to fight against the so-called terrorism and Al-Qaida?

Anyone old enough to remember Vietnam (old folks like me) will recognize what is happening in Iraq. The enemy has been given valuable intelligence: the date on which Congress will receive a report on the progress of the surge. Now all the enemy in Iraq has to do is create as much havoc as possible between now and that date. Of course the body count is going to go up. They have every reason to believe that if they can make things look worse the U.S. Congress will deliver them a victory that the U.S. military would otherwise never let happen. We may lose the "war" in Iraq, but it will be because of the failure of will back in the U.S.

I don't think they are stronger at all-they just fight by different rules than we do. Everyone knows that we have the power to turn that whole area into one big sheet of glass at any point but we don't. I wish more of our soldiers could write in to Yahoo to tell us how well things are going over there. And how dare you talk to one of our soldiers like that? What gives you the right to say anything when you are sitting in your living room and not fighting the war? The news is unreliable and if you were truly interested in what is going on over there you would check out christian broadcasting as well. Our soldiers are the best that there are in the world and if civilian strategy differs from theirs then we are obviously misinformed not the other way around.

it is too soon to tell if it is working and if so, on what scale but if we withdraw tomorrow, this would not end the war.
'Iraqis aren't dying from war. They are being murdered by
Islamic terrorists. '
"the vast majority of civilian deaths are caused by Islamic terrorists, and that very few are from American bombs and bullets. This is because (unlike the terrorists) the Americans aren't in Iraq to kill civilians."
as in any war, you have successes and failures. war is fluid and plans constantly must be adjusted to respond to the enemy.
i hope for a peaceful solution to these deaths, for one is one too many but we have a vested interest in succeeding, however that success is measured.

The numbers must be dwindling because the Bush war mongers supporters gearing up to roll out a 20 state, $15 million dollar, 5 week ad campaign to continue this war and convince you everything is just great!

I know it is. I often go to the VA Hospital here (myself disabled/retired) and I have the chance to speak with returning Veterans. They all seem to express confidence in the surge and most are very supportive of our President.

Good news does come out of Iraq. It is just very unfortunate that the Liberal Media has to Live In Everday Sin (or tell LIES) instead of telling the truth about the progress occuring in Iraq. If you want to Hear The Truth in Iraq, I suggest you to watch The 700 Club (Christian Broadcasting Network) because this show is the only show that tells you the truth from a Christian Perspective and they even tell you stories that Fox News does not even report.

Hello, I'm a Republican and I think that the surge is working.
I believe this not because of news reports or radio shows, but because I'm in the Middle East right this moment, seeing it first hand. I've seen many improvements in securtiy and safety and think that a higher troop level is what we've needed all along. Many soldiers have been saying this for years.
By the way, thanks for calling me and my comrades failures and saying that we're losing a war we're fighting so hard to win. Thank you for letting us know that our bleeding everyday to protect your freedom means nothing to you. We appreciate the oppurtunity to die so that you have the freedom to say that we aren't doing a good job.

This article is put out by Time Magazine (mega-liberal) and is so liberally biased it is astounding. After all of the recent positive reports on the surge, you knew the first time something like this happened, the liberal media would do this. Do they really think we are that stupid? Nice try, but NO!
Alpha Male, thank you for speaking up. I am a conservative and I greatly appreciate all that you do for us and this country.
luisamapacha -- if you say something, own up to it! You are part of the Harry Reid "the war is lost" liberal crowd. People like you symbolize what is wrong with this country. How the fuc* can you win a war with your attitude in this country?

Only the Generals and servicemen should answer this question as they are the only ones that truely know what is going on over there. I have no faith in the news media at all anymore. I will wait to hear from the people that know.
