Tank 1 is 12" inc (side lenth) 14" high this is a hexagonal tank.

Tank 2 is 24" 14" 12"

Tank 1 is a 22 gallon tank and it weighs 221 pounds
Tank 2 is a 17 gallon tank and it weighs 170 pounds

It seems that different sites are giving different answers on the converter. copperheads has about a 3G difference from the one i used in which case you could maybe work out the average.

Tank 2 is a 17.5 gallon tank. On the hexagon tank, you will need to determine the volume. On a rectangle tank volume is calculated by L x W x H.

A hexagon is only six triangles, so if you solve the area of one triangle and multiply by six: voil�!

Area of triangle is Height x 1/2 Base.

In a hexagon, the Height is from one corner to the center, and the Base is one flat side.

But that just gives you the area, not the volume. To calculate the volume, multiply the area found above by the height of the hexagonal container. Once you get the volume in inches cubed, you need to convert to gallons. 230.4 cubic inches = 1 gallon. So whatever the volume is in cubic inches, divide this number by 230.4 and that will give you gallons.

Example: 55 gallon outer dimensions are 48.25 x 12.75 x 21 which equals 12,919 cubic inches, divided by 230.4 = roughly 56 gallons. Now, these are the outer dimensions, so not true to the actual gallons in a tank, but this is how it is done by the tank industry. If you wish to use inner dimensions this will give you actual gallons being used.

Depends on wether these are inside or outside measurements.. ALSO.. the actual amount of water held (which is what it seems u are asking about) can vary greatly from 2 exact tanks, depending on amount of substrate, decorations, anything that takes up volume in a tank will alter the actual amount of water.

I get these as 26 and 15.45 gallons. It also makes a difference if you measure the outside (how the tanks are sold) or the inside (the actual volume that's held).
