talk to you from a short distance at a volume so low you have to stop everything your doing and turn down everything you are listening to, just to barely even hear the comment they are making?

Oh yes --- my boss does that, the only thing I hear is my name, everything else comes out in such a low whisper I have to go in his office and ask him to repeat it.
Often two or three times, it got so bad I went to have my hearing checked, I thought it was me, it wasn't - so now I told him to speak up!

I'm hard of hearing to begin with and there is a lot of back ground noise so I really get annoyed, Then I get annoyed because they are annoyed I can't hear them!

not as much as someone speaking at a higher volume than necessary. I hate that. It's like, I'm not old and I'm not deaf-quit yelling!!!
