Depends on what you give and receive. Some things are better to be given and others are better to be received.

We have to consider both equally good. If somebody was not prepared to do the receiving, you wouldn't be able to make yourself feel "good" about giving, now would you?
There is, in my opinion, nothing more rewarding to BOTH sides than when somebody on the receiving end does it with grace, appreciation, and genuine observable pleasure. To suggest that one is essentially better than the other is to defeat the whole purpose of the transaction in the first place.

It is better to give than to receive to me because I have the philosophical belief if you always give you will always have.
