that's funny.
When I was a small kid (maybe six or seven years old), I was goofing around the front of a supermarket, when an old man purposely stepped on the rubber mat that automatically opens the entrance door, thus pinning me between the door and a rail. It wasn't funny, but that old fart died laughing.

I'm "baby boomer" & not quite a Senior yet & I have no story to share but I would like to say that I agree with daisymae & her response to the person who used some disrespectful language. As to the gal who was rude to the lady in the weelchair, if you LOATHE "old people" as you put it, why are you here on the Senior Citizen group? Aren't we too old or you? That was a very rude & hurtful thing you said to the woman in the wheelchair. You should have ignored her comment & walked away. That would have been the mature thing to have done. I surely hope that you or your family members don't end up in a wheelchair someday. Maybe you'll think before you open your mouth.

There is a senior German lady in my neighbourhood that drives one of those little electric scooters around everywhere (the heavy duty ones that allow them to sit with their feet up).
Anyway, she thinks she has the right of way, no matter what, and will not listen to any excuse as to why she can't drive that thing THERE exactly when she wants to.
The trouble comes when she does the same aggressive driving indoors as she does outside. I have been pushing my cart down the aisle (tight in to the side so I don't block anything) looking for something in particular when I have had my ankle bumped HARD. Turning around, I find this woman glaring at me--no attempt to apologize. And as I am reaching down to rub my ankle she ACCELERATES and hits me AGAIN. So of course, by that time I am yelling "What the f--k are you trying to do? BREAK it?" And her answering "Get the hell out of my WAY!" just earns my standing there glaring at her. Of course I was also telling her what a crazy old b---h she was. And what she can do with herself.
Since that day, every time this woman sees me, she drives her little rage machine straight at me, stopping only JUST before she hits me. And this is even when I have my grandsons with me.
You would think that she would be respectful, one Senior to another, but she has no intention of ever letting someone else "win" in her daily race through life.

I would agree with the bus drive.
TOO MANY seniors on our roads drive WAY SLOW, in the fast lane!! I had one going 55, in a 70 mph zone. When you honk, they do NOT get out of the fast lane.
Then it rains! Worse, they slow down to 45... Again, in the fast lane.

My step-dad who is 88 insisted on driving in Tulsa on a very busy 4 lane and would signal and just change lanes, wouldn't bother to see if anybody was in the other lane. I finally told him to pull over and let me drive. He puffed up like a toad and argued with me that he was in the right because he signaled. Then he and my mom proceeded to argue over who was right and who was wrong. What a trip!!!

I don't see your story as being a worst experience to have with a senior citizen.
A worst experience for a senior citizen would be watching some one you care about slowing losing their mind with dementia.
Knowing how intelliegent that person used to be, and how they took a pride in their apperance but no longer even know how to wash their hands after using the loo.
They were a valuable member of society, and as you get older you realise that one day this could be how you might end your last few years.
As a youngster it may sound funny,( and yes I know I joke about senior moments) Most of us do, but when it gets to serious dementia it's nothing to make fun of.
So please be more respectful of age cos you will be there one day.

A senior hit my car in a parking lot. I was backing up, she was going forward. Our vehicles barely touched. She insisted that I caused damage to her car & filed an insurance claim against me even though no one determined that I was at fault.
