I based my decision on the lowest-priced, highest-fuel efficiency I could find (this was in 2005) I got a hyundai elantra with a 10 yr/ 10k mi warranty and I love it. it's not flasy, it just gets me to work reliably and relatively cheap

a poorly made car is cheaper that a good safe one.... everything else is ridiculous...unless you want to get a Honda or Toyota with 100,000 miles.
