I recently recieved an email via myspace from someone who was apparently interested in my photos, saying they were artistic and whatnot. I participated in a contest for 'best picture' on their website, leaving out as much information about myself as possible because it sounded intriguing, yet a little too interesting at the same time.
Anyway, my photo was picked for a final round on the website and it wants me to refill out my information again, but with more detail and I don't know if it's just me, but if it won't let me keept things that are important to me out of the questionare, then I don't really want to do it. The site is called pictures.com and it seems legitimate enough, but I'm not sure.
I haven't been scammed before so I don't really know what to look for, but this just seems to me that this site is a little too interested in me/my photos, which aren't even that good in my opinion.
Any ideas?

In my opinion, YES! see http://www.flickr.com/groups/central/discuss/72157601436693128/

I tried to go directly to "pictures.com" (typed it in to the address bar) and what I god was NOT a picture competition, it was a list of sites that sell pictures via the Internet. I suspect that the site you are on is disguising the true address and trying to make it look like it is pictures.com when it is really something completely different.

I did a quick check of the domain name pictures.com through network solutions and discovered that it is registered to a company called "cinema presence" in California. This doesn't sound like a company that deals in photos, it sounds like a company that deals with motion pictures...and it is clear that they aren't using the domain for anything except some advertising at the moment (classified advertising...all links to other sites). See http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/results.jsp?domain=pictures.com

check any names you can find on the site you're visiting against the official registration information and I doubt you'll find a match.

When you see something like that, and gives you concern, your instinct is correct.
Don't give them additional information.

If they contact you again, disregard the email.

If you continue communicating with them, they will ask for a payment, probably by credit card, so they can steal your credit card number.

Anytime you see something like that on a website, think SCAM! Have no further contact with them.

Well if the site is asking for personal information that you dont feel comfortable filling out, then contact the original person who contacted you!!

If he says, OH we must have ALL of your pertinent info such as social security number, bank info, birth day, address and so forth, FORGET it!!
