Avril Lavigne is a little poser, and I am quite sure that real punks could kick her @$$ up and down the streets of New York or London, or somewhere really hardcore. It takes more than too much eyeliner and ripped-up fishnets to be a real punk. The whole punk movement got started back in the 70's as an anti-establishment, anti-government, political genre. In summary, Sex Pistols, the Clash, the Ramones=punk; Avril Lavigne=whiny little girl who needs makeup tips.

When she first started the music business, her music was totally hard core punk( ex. Sk8ter Boy)... When she got married to Derrik Whibly from Sum 41, she kind of changed her image. She dyed her hair blond, wore girly clothes, and participated in girly events. She says that marrigage made her more feminene. Her latest album, the best da** thing, came out as pop punk, i think. SHe is still the same Avril who has an amazing voice and doesnt care what others think

But during her first musical years, people labelled her as punk coz of her dress sense.
But she changed her style again in her new album, which is noo way punk..
