It seems that way, sometimes. While we don't want our leaders to "play to the polls," neither do we want them to IGNORE WHAT THE PEOPLE ARE ASKING OF THEM.
*sheesh*

You know, it baffles me at how some people have NO idea how our political system works. Lets look at a Yahoo! article that was posted up here.
"Of the 74 percent of those expressing congressional disapproval, 22 percent said lawmakers generally aren't doing their jobs." <-- I'm not even sure what that means. Way to clarify
This war vet, Richard Reda says, "I think Congress should go over Bush's head and get these troops back here. There's got to be a way where they can override Bush to get the troops back here." <-- Well, sir, I wish there was. Except there is a reason why we dont have dictatorships, 9 judges ruling over the country, or the Senate and House ruling. It's a thing called "checks and balances," and before you go blame Congress, research how the government works. Idiot.
"Maria Guyan, a 28-year-old school secretary from Struthers, Ohio, agreed. Guyan described her politics as "lean Democrat" and said, "I just don't think they're doing enough to keep President Bush from basically going forward on whatever he wants." <-- This lady is saying the exact same thing. Too bad Congress cant muster up the required 2/3 votes to bypass a veto. Why? Because Republicans dont want to make this war one of the greatest mistakes our country has seen in awhile.
Look, when the president is the COMMANDER IN CHIEF, you cant stop a war unless Congress MAKES him. And you cant do that with Republicans still backing Bush. That explains the dismal approval rating, because people just don't understand how American government works and thinks they're doing nothing, when in fact everything that the democratic controlled Congress (which, there aren't even enough for a 2/3 majority, so its not really 'democrat' controlled now is it) has been vetoed by Bush. Just check out his veto record. This is ridiculous and it only proves just how oblivious we Americans are.
I'm sick of these polls. They mean nothing. And its insane how voters are blaming democrats, when it is the republicans who are preventing change.

I think that since congress is mostly democrat, that they just want to fight with Bush and the other way around. But Bush is sinking himself into the ground.

yes and to evryones suprise bush is winning with a 30% compaired to congress's 17%
the fact is that the demacrates came into the congress on the promouse of ending the war and all the other dem's talking points (not saying that bush is doing a great job) but the dems cant over ride any of bush's vetos so they had to compermise with him so the congress that was sent to get bush on he's knees has had the situation reverced and he people know it cindy shehan has already said she will chalage speeker peloisy of she does not impeach bush ( wich then cant not enuf votes in the senate)

President Andrew Johnson was impeached by his own party (he was Republican, as were more than 2/3 of both houses).
He was impeached and only escaped conviction by one vote, for exceeding his authority.
With both housed close to even Dems. and Repubs., the only way Republican elected employees can hope to survive the next election is to join with the more popular party and impeach the traitors currently in the executive branch (even if Cheney thinks he is a 4th. branch) and convict them.
It is the knuckle-dragging lame-duck Republicans in Congress that are preventing accomplishment of the People's will.

I you raed the poll questions carefully, it is the gridlock and obstuctionism by the republicans in congress people are angy at, along with thier unabilty to end the war.
In other words, it is an unfavorable REPUBLICAN trend on both counts

the thing that really bothers me is that the media keeps putting the same 4 candidates on tv - and saying according to the polls these are the people (which is basically 4 people who will do more of the same ) you will elect- screw them -ronpaul2008.com
