The pros are abundant, but there is one consistent con...cost of living. It's not cheap.

I agee with the answerer who said that SF would be the best place for a younger person. I lived in San Jose for 25 years, then moved to Las Vegas. I miss it, there's no other place in the US like the Bay Area. A lot of my friends from SJ moved to SF for work and they love it. It's a life changing experience living in SF for even a little while. I would move to SF in a heart beat, if I had the chance.

Love it! Born and raised here. The only thing (which it is a MAJOR thing) is that the cost of living is EXTREMELY high and over priced. You might not be thinking too much about that being a teenager, but really give it some thought. Along those lines too, if you couldn't afford to live in a decent neighborhood you might be stuck living in a pretty rough area.

That being said...the weather is great..your not far from the mountains (snow) or the beach. There is such an eclectic mix of ppl, cultures and cuisine....well I guess I could go and on, but I won't.

Oh and for what it's worth, I have lived outside of the bayarea (and Ca. for that matter) so I can compare it with other parts of the country....and Ca. (defintely Northern) is still my favorite!

As a young person, you should think about moving to San Francisco proper. A roommate would be a must. Live in a neighborhood you like. I think you will have many opportunities, for both work and play. I would recommend coming to visit for the chance to check out S.F. and look into areas you may want to move to. Good Luck !
