I saw 8 in about 10 minutes time from my backyard in Southern California. This was about 3:30am on Monday morning. I'm sure it would have been a nice show from a dark location. Something that people should remember about meteor showers: it has to be REALLY dark and for the Perseids at least it's better the later it is. I remember camping for them one year and we counted over 200 between 4 and 5am.

YES!!! How amazing was that? We pitched the tent in the back garden and I didn't expect to see anything because of the cloud and the streetlights here in the city. However, the cloud shifted and from between 1.30 and 2.30am I saw loads of small ones and 5 really vivid ones. The first one I saw was like a massive ball of fire shooting across the sky - it was orange too, and I have NEVER seen an orange shooting star.

I made loads of wishes that night :-)

I checked early and the sky was clear but no meteors, so looked out again later, and there was nothing but cloud and rain. Grrr.

In a prevous year, it was stunning. Only a not-very-big square clear in the clouds, but constant activity within that square. I was fascinated.

No, very disappointed, I live 1 mile from the North east coast on a bright clear night, plenty of stars, but not even a firefly.
