Didn't you know, after the Greenies get through changing everybodys lives, telling people how they should think, and deciding what kind of cars other people should buy, we won't need that oil. The Greenies are going to save us. We won't need oil. We won't need coal, nuclear, or hydraulic power plants. We will run our CFL bulbs on tree-hugging, self-righteous love.

Russia is already an energy superpower. The North Pole land grab will secure that for the rest of Russia's history.

Natural resources give you what you need to become rich, but if you cannot extract what you need then, obviously, you cannot become rich.

Russia is going broke to rich without the help of that extra oil. Right now the Russian economy is the tenth largest in the world -- not bad, but nothing to write home about. Yet, by 2020 the Russian economy is projected to be the fifth or fourth largest in the world, and second largest in Europe.

As Russia becomes richer and richer, they will eventually have the money to afford to exploit some of these natural resources.

The U.S. did not go to the North Pole because their claim to it would be even less convincing than the Russians. Russia and Canada have the best chance of actually staking a claim to the Arctic because they are the two countries closest to the region.

One thing is certain -- Russia will not be any richer than it is today. Russia already has more natural resources than anyone can imagine -- so why are its people so poor? The combination of mismanagement and corruption is the number one reason. A history of totalitarian governments (predating the Soviet Union), which shaped the people's mentality always to look to the strongman to operate the economy, rather than to themselves, is another.

We have been shown time and again, that merely selling off one's natural resources will not make a country rich. A viable participatory economy is required.

The tree huggers would never allow that, they won't even let us dig for oil here in the states. What makes you think they would ever allow us to get oil at the North Pole. And for the statement of us attacking Russia, I think that's a pretty stupid comment.
