WASHINGTON - The Democratic-controlled Congress and President Bush seem locked in a perverse competition for public unfavorability, according to a new Associated Press-Ipsos poll.
The survey shows Bush's approval ratings at 35 percent, and Congress' even lower, 25 percent. Only 27 percent of those polled said the country is headed in the right direction, and 39 percent said they support the Iraq war, with 58 percent opposed... Among Democrats, a striking 70 percent disapproved and 26 percent approved..."

Control is control, isn't it? If it isn't then why were all you libs hooting and gloating last November?

I think that most Americans understand that our elected officials represent their own self-interest first, the self-interest of their collegues and supporters second, and maybe way down the line the best interests of American citizens.

Funny thing Historically and has been ignored by the DIMS.
Generally speaking in a 2 term Presidency the party out of power gains massive seats in the 6 year election. In the Dims case they didn't get a total sweep and are now the party in power in another 1 yr and few months comes another election.
The Dims are already thinking they have won the Presidency and are running a fool blown election for the Primary. Election fatigue will effect the masses and the candidates them self's. By the time the election gets here they will be so worn out it will be like a no show.
Plus people are some people are kinda offended by the thought that the election is already over and the we now have a Democrat President.
Combining this with the Internet age and instant info transfer the Democrats will wished they never started their campaign so early. This is because during their debates they will take on different positions to reflect the current opinion poll.
To Wit: By the time the election comes around they will have conflicted them self's so many times that you can use the classic line, were you lying then or are you lying now.
They have destroyed them self's and do not even know it yet.

why is this constant sniping at each other's party. To say that a party actually controls congress with a small majority is a misnomer. Start holding your representative responsible for the giant fiasco in congress. Neither party gives a dam about the good of the country. It is a based on the good of the party.
Do you really think the republican members of congress represent their constituents or their party or democrats?

Its funny how the libs like to cite the polls when its in their favor. However when something is not going their way, they say forget the polls.
One person said that the republicans are blocking Intelligent legislation. Who are you kidding and what are you smoking? The current congress gave us a immigration bill that would have given 20 million illegal aliens US Citizenship. How intelligent it that? Dems are too busy trying to stop the war because they are the party of defeatest. Not very intelligent as well.
We have the highest tax receipt in the history of the world, but we cannot fix our bridges because congress is too busy spending it on pork projects on both sides (Dems and republicians). So no wonder congress has lower ratings.

I think the 'common' man has finally had to face the fact (if they had not already) that no one respresents us. And the problems won't get fixed without someone or some group doing something very drastic.
I don't think we as Americans have the stomach for what it would take to really improve the way of life for the common man.
Sad and hard to even type but I think that is the truth.....

Some do and some don't. Nancy Pelosi doesn't represent me, nor does Ted Kennedy. Charlie Rangel speaks for me, and Joe Biden.
It's disappointing for sure that the Congress has bought Bush's war, and not had the back bone to begin prosecuting for impeachment.
I don't care if Bush is a lame duck, he is in clear contempt of the Constitution and for the record, must be held accountable.
I know, I know, some republican(s) going to say, but they haven't committed any crimes.
I don't know. I can't remember. You can't ask me. I'll send my assistant and she'll site executive privilege... on and on. The most corrupt and dishonest executive branch since Nixon...

After the next election, there will be fewer Republicans and more Democrats. It is obvious there are not enough Democrats there to overcome the President and the Republicans in Congress.

The last few election cycles I've been voting Green. And it's because the democrats aren't behaving like a proper opposition. I urge everyone to do the same.
President approval at 35%? sounds high.

Congress has traditionally always had lower ratings. Compare those ratings to the way Repubs felt about their won congress prior to 2006.

Forget the polls. You would have to know what the questions were, who was asked, how the data was analyzed before believing anything you find in the main stream media. They like to run polls to create news.
