Muslims sights would be clearly set on the west. They were viscous aggressors long before the land in the Middle East was given back to the Jews.

I seriously doubt (from an unbiased point of view) that anyone besides a first/second-world military power (such as the US, China, Russia etc) would be able to "wipe Israel off the map."

-The Israelis has the best trained military in the Middle East, where the quality of training counts more than quantity.

-In addition, they have equipment that some may say is more advanced than the US's (Israel is basically a real-world proving ground for the US's weapons, because of the persistent conflict), like a small nuclear arsenal...

-Also, they have an extremely well-organized military command, which pretty much no one would be able to disrupt.

-Almost every adult citizen is in the Reserves. Male or Female, straight or gay. (That might be something we cold work on).

-Oh, and did I mention that the Jews are pretty enduring? Seriously, the Israelis have enough motivation to militarily sustain themselves without outside help for at least a decade.

Well if you study the history you will find everybody who has tried to wipe the Jews out seems to have come unstuck. The Ancient Egyptians tried as recorded in Exodus but that failed and all their crack troops ended up getting drowned in the Red Sea while the Jews thrived thereafter. Hitler tried with his "final solution" but that went wrong too and he ended up committing suicide in Berlin for his trouble while the Jewish people thrived thereafter . Then all the surrounding Arab countries tried in the Six Day war and all the other silly little wars in the second half of 20th Century ;and despite the Arab nations massive superiority in numbers of troops they too all got utterly and comprehensively humiliated for their trouble and Israel became the most powerful state in the Middle East as a result.

So if any of the present day ethnic cleansing lot try again, it seems probable they too will go much the same way, and may be next time it would be the Islamic religion that ends up being totally wiped out, just like the Nazi ideology was after they tried?

So the simple answer seems to be "it wont happen, mate" The Israelites will again just refuse to go quietly!

Isn't it a question of do we have the right to destroy another country, by ''wiping them off of the map''?
You have already had the Biblical dire predictions, of what would happen!
The moral aftermath would be horrendous as well! World wide recriminations far worse than what we are faced with now, because of Iraq!

Depends. If you are talking about that the moderates in Hamas and Iran are talking about, a lot more peace. This is because they want a country where Muslims, Jews and Christians live side by side in peace.

The extremists though would literally like all Jews to have left. Those people will not be happy with that anyway. And it is this minority that are ruining lives for most people.

Here is a very good article in Foreign Policy. It is titled A world without Isreal.

http://www.foreignpolicy.com/story/cms.php?story_id=2737

Below is the opening paragraph.

Imagine that Israel never existed. Would the economic malaise and political repression that drive angry young men to become suicide bombers vanish? Would the Palestinians have an independent state? Would the United States, freed of its burdensome ally, suddenly find itself beloved throughout the Muslim world? Wishful thinking. Far from creating tensions, Israel actually contains more antagonisms than it causes.

The terrorists still wouldn't be satisfied. They would find other people to terrorize. Like the ones in the past:

1.U.S.(Afghanistan and IRAQ)
2.Russia (Chechenya)
3.India (Kashmir civil war)
4. Israel-Palestine.
5. Indonesia (christian-muslim riots)
6. Eritrea(muslim)-Ethiopia(Christian)
7.Serbs - Albanians/Bosnians
8.China (uighur muslims,Xinjiang)
10.Somalia ('93 civil war)

Brian - I did so like your answer - it made me go WOW!

I think it would be a profound consequence but there will always be conflict in the world.

What you don't seem to be considering is that Israel is God's chosen people - agree with it or not, it is so. I would not want to be the nation that did that....

it is available. Germany is in no situation to initiate wars each time quickly. a brilliant variety of international places in Europe are in a state the place they have not got to any extent further funds and ought to no longer possibly discover the money for to initiate yet another conflict. regardless of if that's available to have yet another international conflict III in this lifetime.

America would lose a phenomenal sum of money in arms sales. Perhaps taxes would go up, in America. Perhaps people would lose their jobs, in America. I think the US government would eagerly set two other countries at each others throats, so they could supply both of those countries with weapons, and make profit from people dying in those countries instead. If you think I'm wrong, then you have a lot to learn.

Nothing will change in common.

Do you think peace will settle in the Middle East?
Of course, not: they have lots of local disputes around water sources.
