Im trying to write a song. I know what I want to write about, I got my notebook ready to record the words. Only problem... I cant think of any words. Its like... Ive got writers block, and it is sooo frustrating! Its a good subject though. And I want it to be a pop song. But without the words...

This question is aimed mostly at writers who have experienced writer's block before, and Im not talking about just song writers. Book writers, poem writers, even journalists. Any one who writes. But everyone is welcome to answer the question.

How do I get rid of writers block and think of the words to this so far non existant song? Any advice on how I can think creatively again? Any answers appreciated, thx!

Been there done that! I'm a freelance writer/musician and have not had REAL problems with writers' block. However, why, I don't know, except perhaps because I've been writing for 40 years and it's as second nature as playing the guitar.

I think I know where you're coming from and have a suggestion. Some people may think this sorta crazy, but I use Yahoo Answers to get going every day. By the time I've written 25-30 answers, I've covered a lot of topics and they're all fresh in my mind. In a way it's like warm-up exercises. I definitely encourage you to do the same. Make sure you try answering in a number of different categories. Something is sure to spark ideas in you. Then take a break, relax and once you're chilled, go back to the song.

Another suggestion is to Google "writer's block." Make sure you use the quotation marks. There are tons of people who claim to have an idea of what to do about it. In fact, since you're so frustrated right now, start here.

Sure hope this helps...now go for it!

Well, I have experienced writers block before, so I speak from having personal experience. Usually when someone gets WB, they should take their mind off of it for a bit. Go take the day off and do something different to to distract you for a while, such as go see a movie, have a sleepover, take a walk in a quiet place in nature, go out to eat, or go out on a date. Then come back to your piece of writing later and see if you can start writing again. If that doesnt work, go get some sort of theripetical treatment or a massage, maybe some aroema theropy. Go to a nice and comfortable book store that has a coffee shop such as barnes and nobles. read some books while your there and enjoy a treat at the coffee shop. whatever makes you feel relaxed. NOW, after that, go back to your writing. works everytime. and if none of that still doesnt work, then go take a nap, rest your mind.

I find my creativity generally comes when I least expect it, or when I'm not trying to force the issue. Go do something you enjoy, that you find inspiring and that lets you relax. The inspiration will soon begin to flow.
