Really they should be asking you the questions. You should think about specefic bequests (like a china collection to so and so) and who you want to leave money to. This can be done with specefic amounts or percentages of your estate.
If you have minor children you should think about who you want to care for them when you die.
If you are leaving your estate to more than one person you should also think about if, in the event that one of them dies, does their portion go to the then alive beneficiaries or to the deceased ones estate or next of kin.
Also, you should think about who you want to be executor of your estate, and who you want as alternate if they cannot act. You can also appoint a trustee to handle the matters of any minor beneficaries. It can be the same as the executor or someone different.
The only things you should ask the lawyer are:
1) Cost (ask them to throw in a health care directive and power of attorney for a package price, this is always a good deal)
2) If they will store the original will for safe keeping (prevents loss in case of fires or greedy people who are not in the will destroying it) or alternatively, if they keep a copy of the will.

if they're like the money sharks we have over here, they have two ways of taking you
first, their service will be expensive up front, so you need to shop around.
then, if and after you die, they'll try to be Executor [instead of your family] so they can take a percentage of your assets as their fee -- and it'll be too large a percentage, so again, you need to shop around.

alas, it is almost impossible for a lay person to know when a solicitor is incompetent. I assure you that shoddy legal work does exist out there and in bushel baskets full, too.
all you can do about that is have trusted family members read the drafts before the final is ready and think, think, think about what might go wrong or not be covered.
