I typically sleep 8-10 hrs. and I change my tampon right when I wake up but everyones saying that i will get an infection like TSS. Am I ok leaving my tampon in that long? Everyone says to wear pads to bed and use tampons during the day but if I use a pad at night I usually bleed through them and either ruin my underwear and pajamas or even sometimes my sheets. Got any solutions to my problem?

It really isn't a good idea to leave a tampon in place 8-10 hrs. Do you get up in the night to go to the bathroom? If so, change your tampon then. A second suggestion is to wear a pair of 'granny panties' over your regular ones to help hold your pad in place so it is not so easy to bleed through. For night time, a poise pad (which is actually for people with bladder control issues) might work, too. They are thicker, wider and longer by far than most pads designed for menstrul discharge.

i strongly recommend that you DON'T wear tampons to bed. When you wear tampons, you should change them every 3-4 hours. If you keep them in for longer than that, then your vagina turns into a breeding ground for TSS bacteria.

I use Poise Ultra Plus pads, but only to sleep. They are HUGE, very long and if you wear them in the proper position, they are almost completely leak-proof. Try them out! They are wonderful!

If you're still afraid of leaks, maybe you can buy dark colored pajamas, underwear, and sheets. If you're afraid of ruining your sheets, sleep on top of an old blanket that you don't want, so if it's ever soiled, you can just throw it out.

You won't automatically get a disease if you leave a tampon in that long, but the chances are much higher (especially if you sleep more than 8 hours). You can always wear overnight pads, or even 2 of them layered. If I were you, I wouldn't take the chance with TSS.

You can wear tampons overnight. But you really should change it after 8 hours. Can you wake up in the middle of the night and change it then? Although TSS is rare, do you really want to risk it?

i sleep with a tampon in too. i do know girls who set their alarm clock and get up at like one or two in the morning to change it. i guess you could always get up and do that. i never could because once i'm asleep, i have no urge to get up before i have to. i read once on the little pamphlets that it was ok to leave a tampon in overnight, just don't use an absorbancy thats higher than you need. (ur tampon should be saturated when you change it or else you're using to high of an absorbancy). so thats the best advice i can give ya.

I'm not sure if you're supposed to but I usually leave a tampon in overnight and I sleep 8-10 hours too. Toxic shock is REALLY rare.

I use thick padded wings, but i use small liners on each end next to the pad on the underwear back and front so the pad is in the middle if that makes any sense.
