And does anyone believe this fact has thus far shown up in any of his work?

I think we can safely infer he was and is a Democrat. He was director of the Woodrow Wilson Center for 14 years and founded the Wilson Quarterly magazine. He's written and narrated for PBS. He was also on the board of the JFK Performing Arts Center. I'm not very well familiar with his work but yes; I think it probably shows a consistent, if quite subtle Democratic bent. However I do agree with Andrew's point, we tend not to sufficiently credit or recognize attempts at impartiality or professionalism. I also, however, don't think it does any harm to ask such questions as yours.

Does it matter? Contrary to what the most partisan people will try and tell us, it is possible to be objective and professional in the execution of a non-partisan position, even if one has personal views.
