I made a scrapbook for my mother-in-law and she loves it -only I took all of her pictures of the past - her wedding - birthdays - her kids school pictures (my husband) etc and made an newer version photo album then I added current pages of her grandchildren and memorable events.
She has told me that she opens that book alot and sees something she didn't see before and it and it always make her feel close to her kids again - even though they have families of their own.
It took me awhile but I gave it to her for Mother's Day.
Hope this gives you some inspiration to get started - she will be so thankful

I think what you are doing is really thought ful, It will mean a lot to her.. My thoughts would be would be to start with your wedding, and then the kids births, with dates etc.. and as you said if you have picts with her.. in it that would be great.. though I am sure she would appreciate having some newer ones.. One of the things that is really neat to do is to print off a yearly calendar.. and add photos of the kids from last year to the calendar.. you can make them in 5x7 or 8x10.. She could put them in the scrapbook after the year is over. so if it were me.. I would only finish about 1/2 of the book.. and either send new layouts maybe monthly.. or at least every 3 months.. that way it is not such a chore for you, and she will always have something new to show her friends.. I would make her a 12x12 album... for her home.. but also one of the new cute little albums that she can carry in her purse.. they can be purchased for about 5.00// and the dont take much time to make.. so you can drop one in the mail... for special days like mothers day birthdays and christmas..pat

I did three scrapbooks for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. Start with your wedding and progress from there. I started with them as babies and moved up - it was a daunting program. Took me 6 months of almost continuous work in the evenings and on weekends. Do a progression from your wedding on. I know she will love it and look at it often. Try putting each month/year in a separate envelope and then put them in order. This way you won't have to keep looking at the same pictures over and over. If the kids opened a special gift from her take pics and add them to the book.

I think a scrapbook is a wonderful gift for any family member. Does she have any outside interests? I would include those as well. Maybe some pages with pictures of places she has been or would like to go, a dream page kind of thing.....

What a wonderful gift. Not all wives have a mother-in-law to speak of in a good way. Kuddos! I would suggest maybe themes from her past. Where she lived; things in her childhoos; world events; what things cost. Maybe do like a "time line" scrapbook to being her to present day "Nana Time"???
Hope this helps! Good luck!

Can you get any pictures of her as she was growing up? That would be nice, too. I believe most grandmothers would love "funny face" pictures of the kids - have them make faces and add to the book. Have them draw their hand on a page, paint and decorate it. That is, if you have young children. Has she ever mentioned she would love to travel to a certain place? Gather some information and make a page for her dream vacation. Does she have brothers and sisters, or other family members? Why not add to them?
Whatever you do, she will love it, and thank you for taking the time to think of her.

It is a great idea! You can use all the stuff you suggested and you can also add drawings done by your kids and pictures of them at school.
