Decade of Uncertainty
I mean think about it, it was the years of the hippies. The Cold War, Hippies were singing and speaking about peace. It was the decade that drugs were popularized among the general public. Everyone was afraid of a nuclear war between the U.S. and Russia. It was the decade of uncertainty, we, as a country, were on a very slippery slope. Drugs, music, peace, and War were the big things around that time and it had an aftershock on the 70's too. The U.S would've been consumed by drugs and music, if not for the Reagan administration.

I was a child in the 60's and tend to agree with the last answer, it wasn't what it is hyped up to be. Free love meant a lot of men getting their way by laying down guilt now that you've got the pill. A lot of people had bad trips and problems afterwards, there wasn't hell of a lot of money around for most people. I don't remember Vietnam but it tore families apart. Nice for free loaders but people still worked in boring offices and shops. No colour TV in Britain. Interesting kids shows though, Dr Who, Star Trek, and wonderful achievements, man lands on moon.

San Francisco, Viet Nam, social revolutions. I was there. If I had known I would have lived so much longer, I would have taken better care of myself. It was fun, I think. Kinda hard to see through the Purple Haze.
