I thought that was what this Iraq thing was all about in the first place?

I need some explanations, Bushies, because I don't see how you can reasonably support this war unless we find some WMDs.

WHERE ARE THEY, BUSHLOVERS????!!!!!!!!

We did find them in Iraq. But we secretly moved them to a (1) farm in Montana and (2) to a hunting ranch in Texas. Dick had to shoot a friend when he discovered several while hunting with VP. Most of us think that George will use them when he cancels the elections in 2008.

I don't support Bush, but I can tell you in logical terms how the US thought that Saddam has Weapons of Mass Destruction. This was actually from one of my other answers, which was chosen as a best answer. Check out this question, asked by wildflower c. "How many of you want a presidential candidate that is for ending the wars?" Type this in under the search for questions to get a more in depth look at the current situation. It is the first choice. Please read my answers to both questions fully and I hope I could teach you something about the situation in the middle east.

In the year 1979, Iran's people had a revolution and removed the U.S. backed Shah, Reza Pahlavi, from power. The Shah had been a dictator and the Iranians decided that it was time for a change so they overthrew him. At about this time, the exiled Ayatollah, Khomenei came back into Iran and seized power. Khomeini was a known extremist and very quickly declared the United States to be the Great Satan, and Israel to be the Little Satan. In the year 1980, Iranian students stormed the United States embassy in Tehran grabbing about 70 Americans. About 50 of them were held for 444 days and suffered unimaginable torture under the students. To make matters worse, the United States rescue efforts failed miserably resulting in US miltary deaths. This greatly embarassed the United States and put diplomatic ties between Iran and the United States at an end.

Now, while this revolution was ocurring in Iran, the Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, calculated stealing part of Iran's land for oil. He believed that the Iranian military was weak and he also believed that the shift in leadership weakened Iran. So, he went to war against Iran and quickly took out most of Iran's airorce bases. This left Iran defenseless. Now, remember the extremist ideas that Iran now had, those ideas played a large part in the war.

Iranian nationals, who weren't quite sure of the revolution, started to admire the leadership and built a humungous Baseej (volunteer) force. This force was well over a million people. The Iranian military also regrouped and began fighting the war seriously. The Baseej force ran human wave attacks on the Iraqi army on the ground while Iranian army fought against Iraq's army. In 1982, Iraq decided to give up its efforts in invading Iran and asked for a treuce which Iran did not accept. The war ended in a stalemate 6 years later, with Iranian casualties totaling about 1 million.

Now during this war, Iraq was supported by the U.S. military, the Russians, the Chinese, the French and many other major powers. These countries offered lots of assistance to Saddam like spying, and even weapons. But they also supplied the chemical agents to build chemical weapons for Saddam, which Saddam used during the war, killing tens of thousands of Kurds and Hundreds Of Thousands of Iranians. Most of these chemical weapons were taken away from Saddam by the UN in the 1990s.

From what I can tell, I believe the U.S. believed that Saddam had kept these chemical weapons and these weapons were the Weapons of Mass Destruction, not nuclear weapons, at least I really hope so.

Also, if you want more information about Weapons of Mass Destruction, then look up A.Q. Khan, a man who sold nuclear materials to Iran, Libya, North Korea, and I believe Dubai. A.Q. Khan is considered to be "Father of the Bomb" in Pakistan after he and his organization created a nuclear bomb for Pakistan. Actually, I recently found out that he did some of his business from Dubai, but as far as I know, he didn't sell weapons materials to Dubai. In the 1980s or was it the early 90s, A.Q. Khan's organization attempted to sell nuclear material to Saddam, but Saddam REFUSED THINKING IT WAS A UN TRAP. If Saddam had accepted, then the U.S. would have been right in thinking Saddam had nuclear material, but he REFUSED to buy any. Hope you like my answer!

This is old news, the best thing we can do now is make the best of the situation instead of bickering over some false information from the intelligence agency and prevarication by our government. If you want to help the situation, then vote for whoever will do the best job cleaning up the situation.

We haven't "found" Bin Laden yet either...guess he doesn't exist. And we haven't found the person who killed Vince Foster have we? Have we ever found out how many BJs Clinton got in the Oval Office? Did Clinton ever decide what the meaning of "is" is? But we do know this: Clinton was the first president (out of only two ever impeached) who was impeached for personal malfeasance.
