The speed limit on the freeways in the US is approximately 100kph, and up to 120kph. There used to be states with no speed limits, but I believe this is no longer the case. However, were you to be in some distant part of Nevada, or Montana, you could probably get away with driving 200 kph on occasion.

Can you not simply cross the boarder into Germany and drive the autobahn? I thought there were no speed limits there.

Speed limits are posted in every state. Different states have different maximum speeds for different roads, freeways, and highways. In CA, the posted maximum is 65 MPH on the freeways. Usually 55 MPH is the maximum allowed and as posted on country roads. Speed limits in cities and towns are often 25 MPH or 35 MPH depending on the city and state. Police and state troopers use RADAR to check the speed limits almost everywhere. (120 Km/hr = 75 MPH)

In America we can drive about
In some States it is; 70 mph 112.7 kph
I know in South Dakota it is; 80 mph 128.7 kph

I will add, in America we have special provisions. For an addition fee we can drive 120 mph 193.1 kph. Normally the Policeman will give you a paper saying it OK and you can pay your fee at a later date.

MMmm, depends on where you are; in Montana people can go very fast. Here in Washington, I went 100mph on a road near my house, but it would be a big ticket (violation) to be caught. I think 120 is about 65mph, not so bad! Switzerland is great, happy August 1 !!
