three choices-
#1- WD-40, as suggested.
#2- 3 in 1 oil
#3- A good knife that won't rust is going to cost a few bucks more from a sporting goods store. Wal-Mart stuff is basically junk.

If the rust is on the blade, then use a little WD-40 and steel wool. Lightly polish the blade to remove the rust.

Just about any oil will work to inhibit rust. So, as part of your regular maintenance on your knife, just give it a light coat to prevent future rust.

For example, when you change the oil in your vehicle, there is always a drop or two left in the new oil container, after pouring the oil into the engine. I will flip it upside down, and get a drop or two onto my knife blade, and rub it across the blade with my finger, and then wipe off any excess with a paper towel.

Q-tips work well to clean inside a knife.

Good Luck

i might say specific, with an particularly easy coat, even on a dusting microfiber textile... very gently oiled in a single nook. My reasoning is, is that once you have rust.... you have rust! Prevention is the main in my humble opinion. good good fortune, certsandy

try to clean it with WD40... that's really good to clean up rust, old oil... almost all dirt what's hard to get off from steel or even from your Hands.
