Chemically yes..
metaphorically...no...I am connected to my wife on a level that goes beyond the blood ties of family...I have friends that are closer than siblings...I think we make our connections as we choose...thick or thin.

when you said "social lie" I began to wonder if you knew what the statement "blood is thicker than water" means. It means your family is (always) there for you. It sure is in my family.

Blood thicker than water...your child and your spouse are both about to go over the edge of a cliff...you can only save one...who do you save?

Well, blood is made of red blood cells which are bigger than the particles in water, and they are closer together. the particles in water are spread out so the water is thinner. also, do you notice that when you bleed, the blood slowly goes down your arm/leg/etc.? it is thicker. much thicker.
