I did the exact same thing when I was pregnant with my daughter. As a matter of fact, when other people were wishing their pregnancies would hurry up and end.. I was thinking, " Just stay in there!! I know you're safe!" Sounds insane.. but I was scared about giving birth and I just wanted everything to be ok. She's now almost 11 months old and healthy as she can be. I believe it's completely normal to have those fears. Just know that God has blessed you with a child and He is going to take care of you both. Turn to Him and ask Him for strength and He will supply you with more courage than you could ever dream of having!! God Bless you and Congrats on the new little miracle!

First of all every pregnancy and delivery is different and no one can tell you how it's going to be for you. Being overly excited, anxious, nervous etc. may have an effect on the baby, so just take a breather and calm down!!
My first child was stillborn, but 3 weeks earlier than expected so by now you should be fine. I was high risk and had numerous other problems too. You have to remember, that eventhough it is your first child, the nurses in labor and delivery have done this sort of thing several times a day every day for God only knows how many years! They will take excellent care of you. In most hospitals, the most experienced staff is in Labor and Delivery. Anything you need, they will be there for you. Just calm down and RELAX!! As soon as your little one gets here, a good nights sleep goes right down the drain........but it's ok because the love you have for your child (or children) is an AWESOMELY indescribable feeling that you won't fully grasp until she is here. That will make it all worthwhile! Congratulations! And take care of that little one!!!

I had a scheduled C-section with my first due to the fact he was breech, so I was like you in that I knew a week in advance exactly when he was going to be born. I went through all the same fears as you are experiencing. I couldn't sleep or eat, and I didn't even want my husband to even so much as look at me or I'd snap at him out of nervousness. All you need to know is that what you are experiencing is completely normal. You have been having a healthy pregnancy, your doctor is very competent, and even if god forbid there was a problem, you are in a hospital with staff that knows exactly what to do to make the situation right. Just sweat it out, everything will go fine, and just think of all the healthy, happy babies/deliveries that occur every day rather than what can go wrong! Very soon you will have a beautiful little girl to love and you will know that your fears were unfounded. Congrats and good luck!

I think some fear is perfectly normal. It shows you have a good grasp on the awesome responsibility of motherhood. I was a bit scared with my first, too. I did learn that a lot of well-meaning people told me horror stories that rarely happened. Too much fear isn't good for you or the baby and bad things during delivery don't happen often enough to merit the stress that fear can have on you and your baby. Best wishes and I am sure things will go just fine for you.

Calm down now. The reason that you're feeling so apprehensive is that, although you haven't met her yet, you already love this baby and you just want her to be okay. Your just experiencing some new mom jitters. It's going to be great. Much much good luck to you. I'll star you. Will you come back on here after the baby is born and let us know how it all went.
By the way all those bad things you hear about are just a tiny 1%. Please trust me on that.

Replace these negative thoughts with positive thoughts.
The minute you find yourself thinking something might go wrong, envision how everything is going to go right. Try to include details in your thoughts.
When you begin to think that something bad is going to happen, replace this negative thought with an image of your healthy, perfect baby.
The horror stories you've heard are few and far between. Replace these negative thoughts with images of modern medicine and 21st century advances in science. Everyone's pregnancy and labor (and baby !) is different -- focus on your pregnancy, your health, and your baby.
Anything and everything negative -- nail it immediately and replace the thought with something positive.
Be sure to talk to your doctor about this ASAP, sweetie. He or she will calm your fears, let you know how the baby's doing, and how s/he anticipates the delivery to go.
Take care, and enjoy this last stretch by focusing on all the positives.
xoxo

It is normal to be nervous. I know it is easier said than done, but you really do need to relax. Stress is bad for the baby. Try some breathing exercises or meditation. Also, try to get some sleep. I just had a baby June 14 and believe me...you will wish you took advantage of your free time. Best of luck to you!

Instead of thinking about the things that will never happen, concentrate on thinking about that lovely baby in your arms. Try not to get stressed, be calm for the baby's sake. Remember to tell us what weight she is and how she looks. God bless :)

Everything is going to go fine. It's probably normal for women to freak out about delivering. I'm 6 months right now and I'm starting to freak out a little. But I just wouldn't think bad thoughts. It always works for me. Just think about seeing and holding your little girl for the first time. Just be positive and things will go smoothly. Your little girl is going to be beautiful and very healthy!!
