ok so i got this computer i got the power cord plugged in and the thing starts humming like its starting up
so i hook the monitor up and it doesnt turn on and the light on the power button of the computer isnt lit up like it should be but when i plugged it in the yellow standby light under the power button stays on for 2 seconds then goes off then comes back on for another 2 seconds then turns off for the rest of the humming session plz help!!

ok so i think i found part of the problem theres a load of dust inside

Try resetting CMOS or replacing the CMOS battery.

Disconnect the power cord. After you vacuum out the dust, leave the case cover off. Connect the power cord and power up your machine. Make sure the CPU and system fans are both working as well as the power supply fan. If the power supply fan and/or system fan are not working, the problem is most likely the power supply.

If the fans are working, it is possible that the CPU over-heated and may have failed because of all the dust. If there is accumulation of dust on the CPU heat sink, it blocks the hot air from the CPU from escaping. I hope this is not the problem!

Could be a bad power supply or the HDD is not working properly. Once you have the monitor hooked up, try it again and see if you get anything on the screen. If you don't then chances are the power supply is bad or does not have enough power to run the PC.
