Well, let me start out by pointing out what is not out in the country. The entire portion of Northern Virginia, following I-95 to the south to the City of Fredericksburg. The Richmond Metro Area south to the Tri-Cities area. (Petersburg, Hopewell, Colonial Hights.) Facing east, Hampton Roads, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and the other counties there are not country.

So, looking at "just country" then there is a multitude of spots. The southern portion of the state and the western portion of the state are very rural. Want the names of some rural counties? Mecklenburg, Brunswick, Amelia, Caroline, Louisa, Campbell, Wise, Tazwell...

My fiance and I are looking at buying a home in Louisa County. However, every place within an hours drive of a major metropolitan area is growing. Even with the "bad housing market," new houses are selling.
