The heart and the mind don't alway agree. Often our urges push us in destructive ways, or ways our experience has taught us to avoid. My respectful suggestion is to follow your logic and not give in to the attraction.

It IS Hormones, with a Liberal dose of the Psyche added in ... The Hormonal thing I am guessing you already understand, so no need to explain that... just come to grips with the fact that Hormones are at least 50% of the drive ... the other 50% is particular to that part of the Psyche that makes some of us into Adrenaline Junkies, such that we simply MUST find out how close we can get to the fire and avoid getting burned ... an upshot is that, in most cases, whatever actions occur during the enactment and development of the, "Challenge", the relationship is rarely long lasting and safely requires no commitment on anyones part ... All in all, as painful as it can be, it is still safer than Sky Diving ....... and much more pleasant than having a Root Canal done for you by your Mother-In-Law .......

Here is a good measuring stick of love vs. lust.
If you were blind, and this person was your mate, would you still be happy with him? You could not see him, but you only hear him and he had to take care of you, or you had a relationship with him...would it last very long?
If the answer is yes, then it must be love. If the answer is no, then it is definitely lust.
The relationships built on beauty and lust usually end up in the "dumper" first, when the beauty fades
Is he all icing and no cake?
Think of it this way, if you have too much icing, you get sick of it eventually....Cake is far more satisfying when it is the cake you like.

Sorry, hormones - basic chemical attraction.
Not everything has to have a deeper meaning, Occam's Razor, the simplest answer is most often the correct one.
Is he hot? If so your body is just responding to the attraction...most people, myself included, have been attracted to people we otherwise don't like.

Interesting there is something that resonates inside of you that is affected by this mans pressence..Opposites attract sometimes there are plenty of men I see that I do not like their character yet I find myself attracted to them haahehe and I know of course it is not love..............or my hormones ....I can not explain it but I feel it too maybe the person is hiding another side of themself that we have yet to see and even though we have made a judgement about their character maybe we have missed something hahehe and that is what we are attracted to that reflects something we have or feel within our hearts and souls :)))

The people you're most unlikely to find attractive are those people who are indifferent to you. But hatred is a form of passion, or attachment. If you intensely dislike someone, that means that their presence sets off something in you. In either case, you're involved.

i think you need to spend more time with him b/c this intense attraction cannot be an accident. get to really know him better. i bet you don't like him right now b/c he's your opposite.
give it more time and i bet you'll fall head over heels.
that's just a hunch.

your chemicals are probably compatible with one anothers'. hey, it happens. i have been sooo attracted to someone before, but HATED the guy. it just means that genetically, you would make strong babies. don't act on it. it's just an urge that dates back to caveman days.

It's hard to help, because we need more info about the situation. Have you tried talking to them about how you feel?
