Kia Vaughn filed the lawsuit alleging defamation of character in state Supreme Court in the Bronx the same day Imus settled with CBS Radio in a deal that pre-empts his threatened $120 million breach-of-contract lawsuit against CBS.

Are you kidding me? This is how I see it... you tell me how you see it...
What Don Imus said that morning was nothing short of racist and was a stupid bone headed statment that showed his lack of intellingence. That said... he did nothing illegal, was the target of a hypocritical with hunt by Al Sharpton of all people and was fired.
Kia, along with the rest of the team, HAD THE SUPPORT OF MOST OF THE NATION... they were appologized to and were invited to the White House. If anything these women were praised and gained respect for the way they handled the situation.
However, today... Kia took that all away. She sees deep pockets and she wants to dive in. Can you say "Gold Digger"?

G-O-L-D D-I-G-G-E-R!!!
Supposedly the situation had been resolved to everyone's satisfaction. I guess that nothing in America is truly resolved until money changes hands.

Just as long as she sues Jay-Z, Snoop, 50tyyy Cent, and ever other Hard core Rapper that has used HO in a demeaning way. Come on like she never heard those terms used in there songs and much worse. The Hypocrisy in this whole thing with Imus is what's wrong with society. Bonzi Wells a basketball player said and I quote all the CRACKERS ON MY TEAM ARE SOFT. Now say if a white player said that about a Black player?? Sharpton, Jessie, and the NAACP would be marching and would get the white player out of the league. What about the DUKE Lacrosse Case, most in the black community were ready to hang these boys WHO WERE FOUND INNOCENT, AND NEVER got an apology from the so called race hustling leaders like Sharpton and Jackson. What IMUS said was stupid, but we live in a society where it's OK to use those terms due to the hip hop culture.

I thought what he said was funny, you know, a joke, as it was meant to be. Then, it was learned that the girls took great offense to it (or maybe Sharpton told them they were offended, I don't know) and Imus apologized for his bad judgement. That should have been the end of it. No Al Sharpton, no NAACP, just Imus and the team.
Bottom line, if you don't want to be called something by one group of people, don't allow it from your own group.
I work in a supervisory role and, last year, I was literally the only white (albeit half white) person on my shift. All my employees were black. They got so comfortable with me, and I with them, that they started calling me "*****" along with each other. I never cared. One day, though, we were all joking around and I accidently used the word "*****". Know what they did? They Laughed. When they saw how embarrassed I was when I realized I'd said it they told me not to worry about it because it was just a joke. I was more upset than they were. They didn't get pissed or angry or anything. I had heard it so much and had been called it so much I didn't realize I had said it. Though, I would nornally never use it or it's "er" variation.
Is it not the essence of equality that we can all say and do the same things? Or, does race play a role that allows certain people special treatment?

Well, that isn't what he said about the players.
But you're right about her. She's an opportunistic gold-digger and nothing more than that. A real woman would have just gotten on with her life without seeking more publicity.
She's suing because her feelings are hurt. Hurting someone's feelings is not illegal in this country. He didn't slander her or defame her character. He called her a name, for which he apologized.
She doesn't deserve money for it. If she was a lady, she'd just move on with her life from here and stop trying to get her name in the papers and earn fame based on one stupid little incident.
Next we'll see book deals and movie rights.
It's ridiculous.

She has to prover damages. How can she say she is unable to pursue her interests or is held in a lower regard because of Imus? The nation bent over backwards to show support for Rutgers.
Another thing: Why isn't the Rutgers team suing Imus together? Looks like Kia is more in it for just herself.

Imus did something he didn't need to do ... try to appease the public who found his comments offensive.
My opinion, Imus made a screw-up, an insensitive screw-up but I didn't view it as racism. He has made WORSE statements like that ... he is a SHOCK JOCK!
He took criticism and went on Sharptons' radio program when he knew that racist was going to drill him. He did it to make things right and now look what is happening.

This is the legacy of Al Sharpton. An opportunist who is trying for a piece of the pie. She says her reputation was tarnished. That will be HARD to prove with the nation so much behind the players. If anything, it improved her reputation. One thing for sure though, her reputation will be probed as deeply as possible in the lawsuit.

NOPE!! Wrong then, wrong 2day, and you can bet your bottom dollar that he'll still be wrong 2morrow. That was A RACIST comment directed toward ALL black women. He got exactly what he had coming let that be a lesson to those that believe. What does he know about having black hair. I'll tell you what. Not a darn thing. He's an ignorant fool who was left alone with a mike.

I think its BS what has happened to him. If a black person said something like that it would be swept under the rug, but since a white person said something bad the liberal media makes a huge deal over it. Its so insane and unfair. The media is racist against white people.

I have been called much worse. Whatever happened to "stick and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me". If people star suing because they were called a name we will only have more frivolous lawsuits than we do now. Personally if she goes ahead with suing Imus she is being a Gold Digger and then will live up to what he called her.

Yes, it's ironic.
A plaintiff in a libel or slander suit has to prove damages to reputation. There were none, since Imus was roundly criticized. and rightly so, I thought.
Filing this lawsuit has damaged this woman's reputation far, far more severely than Imus ever could!
