The big wheel was put out by Empire Industries which closed their doors in 2001. However, Today, the Big Wheel® has been revitalized by Alpha International, Inc. of Cedar Rapids, IA under the Empire Toys™ brand and is more colorful and safer than ever. Alpha's engineer's have been able to re-develop the look of the original 1969 Big Wheel® with the safety and appeal of our modern generation. The Big Wheel® was re-launched at the 2003 New York Toy Fair. In the spring of 2003, Alpha also re-launched the popular 9" version for ages 2-3 years old.

lol jk
u know,,,eventually c ompanies just do that sometimes.
like probly sometime in the near future they'll discontinue webkinz :( cause right now to most kids its just a fad. (to me its cool, not a fad) like once the fad is out, they wont sell as much so its no use to them to keep sellin and makin em.. does that make sense? in this case, big wheels were the fad....

Kids became too fat and lazy to peddle them. Seriously, would a kid even want one? I mean I know YOU want your grandson to have one, but I am sure he wants a battery powered hummer. I bet kids now days would think that they were way to much trouble and too little fun.

I'm guessing that it had something to do with poor traction. They were a lot of fun, though. Good luck with your search.
