Because Joseph Smith made it up in the 18th century. there is no archaeological evidence because it isn't true!! The Mormon elders won't answer questions because they don't know the answers, or they haven't made it up yet! Seriously, the accounts of Joseph's visit from God has so many different versions it is sad!

Actually some artifacts have been found down in South and Central America, but even though there is not 100% proof of the Book of Mormon the Bible doesn't have proof of all of the civilizations either. It's something that you have to belive in I guess because even though 100% proof hasn't been found, many things are like that in life, you just have to belive because you can't find sure facts.

I really recommend the South Park episode about Mormonism. It goes over the whole founding of this religion (with a chorus of "dumb dumb dumb" in the background.) But it also shows how the lifestyle -- cultivating a happy and healthy family life being a cornerstone -- is not all bad.

One thing that has always puzzled me about the book of Mormon is the mention of bees in the new world. There weren't any! Please explain that!
