I know there isn't a spell check in the section for additional details. However, a paragraph can be written in Word and a spell check performed. Then, the paragraph can be cut from Word and pasted here.

They obviously don't care because maybe they are ignorant, or in a hurry to get points. I'm not defending, but have you noticed how faulty the spell-check is? It will say that a word is misspelled when it's not, like the word isn't complete (with a gap in it). It's happened to me a couple times. Also maybe people are so confident in their abilities that they feel they do not need to use it?

I think some of the questions are from people who have limited English speaking capabilities. So they don't know how to spell a word even when spellchecker picks it up. I am amazed how some people misspell words, you should see the questions in Men's Health...

That's just too much WORK for most people when it comes to the online world of text-communication.

Just as taking the time to hit the "check spelling" button at the top of the answer cue is too much for most people to do prior to actually previewing & submitting their answers.

Most are just too lazy to do it. Others simply don't care enough to do so.

Perhaps neglectful spellers don't realize that others won't understand what they are asking about.

They may not know that the reason for all the rules in written communication is so there won't be misunderstandings.

I generally don't even finish reading a question that is poorly constructed or misspelled. (Let alone answer it.)

we are all human. i know spelling is important....but it's really not necessary. (at least not on this website...). if people use slang and Internet I.M. lingo, then why should spelling matter? i prefer people to spell things right, but I'm not going to answer their question by saying "Hey, you spelled this wrong...". (like some jerks here). just answer their question and go onto the next one...

It really bothers me too but some people just don't care. And as for the word ordeal, most people are way too lazy to even think of that.

Either laziness or just not knowing or caring if the spelling is correct.

I have often wondered that, myself. I also grit my teeth when I see answers with words split in half and misspellings galore.
