I've heard that hospital are protected under some "charitable" umbrella and would not be accountable for his injuries.

That is wrong. They will be responsible for any injuries, so all you need to do is talk to them. It will save money and won't have to get any lawyers rich.

I totally agree with bornagainbrat and Lisa, why do people have to sue people over this kind of stuff? If your father fell, he fell. If I fall at work an I going to sue my boss because of my clumsiness? Was it even their fault? Even if it was, was it done on purpose? Its horrible, everyone just looks for a pay day with this stuff.

You can, but the limit that you could be paid is most likely set. On a personal note, why does everyone want to sue everyone else? Aren't doctors and nurses people? Don't they make mistakes?

If a nonprofit hospital maybe , but a for profit hospital is a different story.
They should at least fix the broken bones .
any more than that they will fight it

Nonsense. Hospitals and the doctors who run them are completely su-able for malpractice, premises liability, and any other torts they commit.

You have to prove that the hospital was negligent and that due to this negligence your father received this injury.

You can sue anybody for anything if you can find a lawyer to handle the suit
