The 4.3 x motor is a throttle body injected, you would have one injector mounted above the throttle plates instead if a carb to feed the motor fuel. With thye 4.3w motor you have potr injection with an injector for each cyl. and to replace it you would have to get a "spider" This is what you would do if you have a problem. tTo tell what motor you have, remove the air filter and start the motor, and if you see the single injector spraying fuel, you have the x motor

The absolutely free reverse vin check sites generally provide fake information. To get real information, money will have to be paid. The free searches provide fake information so they can get your email address to send spam.
Stay away from shady reverse vin check sites, most likely you won't get any information after you make the payment. Not to mention you won't get a report and you won't get an answer if you try to call for a refund. Stick with a reputable reverse vin check site like http://www.reversevincheck.net that has been around since 1995.

The X engine was rated at 170 horses (tach was optional and only came in S-10's, Sonoma's, and only V6 on the Hombre's) and the W engine was rated at 180 horses (tach was standard; also came in Blazers, Jimmy's, Astro's, Safari's, base engine in the G-Vans, and base engines in the Pickups). Both engines had the center throttle body with 6 popits at each cylinders; not a true multiport injection engine.

Engine series code. This makes little difference except to the parts guy who might stock two different parts for the two different engine designs.
For example, my old '85 Chevy P'up with a 305 (5.0 liter) engine takes a larger air filter than another Chevy car with the same engine. It uses a different muffler and a different camshaft than a car with the same motor and a different exhaust manifold for the different smog pump tubes. Yadda, yadda, yadda.
Good Luck!
