I'm a mom of 3 girls...9, 11, & 12 y/o. My 12 y/o has hit puberty & has started to "grow" a little, but not a whole lot yet, but enough to wear a bra & she is MUCH more private about that area & doesn't mind wearing a bra.
My 9 & 11 year old girls haven't hit puberty at all yet, & it seems like my 11y/o will be 12 b4 anything "develops".
Now my question: Can I let my 9 & 11 year old girls be w/o a top at home?
I know my 12-year old wouldn't try it because she knows not to let ANYONE BUT HERSELF see her whole "chest", but since my 9 and 11 y/o girls don't have a "chest" I don't see what the big deal is. Right now their "chest" and stomach would look like any boy without a shirt on...so "right now" (that'll change later, I know) I don't c a problem with it. Also, If my 9 & 11y/o daughters go outside, they know to put on a sports bra or bathing suit, they know not to go outside w/o some sort of top on.
Oh, & the bottom "parts" should always be covered no matter what! Thanks!

You should have all of them wear shirts all the time, even at home. Since two of your daugters are about to hit puberty, it would be better if all of them wore shirts at home.
P.S. Why would they not wear shirts at home?

i think that all of your daughters should wear a top because if they go topless now, when they do start to "develop" they wont be comfortable wearing a bra since they arent even used to having to wear a shirt all the time.
also if they like to go topless now, even if it is just at home, that might influence their choices when theyre teens, since they are pre-teens.
ive never felt comfortable without being fully clothed becuase i have ALWAYS been taught to be. unless im in the bathroom with the door closed, i have had to wear a shirt that doesnt show my stomach, and bottoms that go down to my knees. my sister on the other hand likes to flaunt around in little strips of clothing and call it good. because when she was younger, she was allowed to.

As long as it's just the family, I don't see anything wrong with it. If there are other relatives/friends over, then they should have a shirt on. Otherwise, it's just fine.
Just make sure that once they start to develop, they start covering up like your 12-year-old does.

Not to be rude at all but your kids aren't five anymore. After about six at the latest they shouldn't be running around topless. The eleven year old is most likely just like her sister and will want to copy so they should start wearing one. Your nine year old is fine with a shirt but they do need to cover up.

I think you should have them wear shirts all the time no matter what. i was always fully clothed since i was 3. they are girls and need to know that no one should see their chest, no matter if they have gone through puberty or not.

i think it's totally yours, the girls and your wife's choice, if your all comfortabe with it then what's the problem as long as they are covered up when anyone visits and also while they haven't started growing, my girls are the same but my eldest is only 8 and i am a single mum but they have to cover up if anyone's visiting us

no, a girl in middle school and a girl soon to be in middle school should NEVER go w/o shirts. thats something only very young little girls can do. whether they have "developed" yet or not, it doesnt matter. i think its inappropriate, honestly.
