... my hymen is still intact? I'm thinking about first time sex and worried about pain/bleeding. I've been showjumping/horseback riding for quite a few years and been using tampons so would this suggest it might have already broken? I know this seems a bit of a silly question and I'm embarrassed to ask it but is there any sure way to know?

The Hymen is overrated.
Your hymen will break due to vigorous physical activity (gym, horseback riding, etc).
Even with the hymen broken, it may still be painful the first time.
It really depends. My first time was not painful at all.

dont worry. i have read that you can break it riding horses and such. so if you dont bleed . make sure you tell your husband that you are indeed a virgin and explain evrything. i was a virgin when i got married i too was worried about this because i rode bikes alot when i was young. in moutainous bumpy places i rode everywhere. so i thought maybe it would be the same situation. well on my wedding night i got a big surprise. for me since nothing have ever been in there i mean nothing. it was like a knife was being pushed inside. it took 3 tries to get it inside all the way. and the moment he moved it was the most terrible feeling . i cried of course. and when it was all over he got out and blood just poured. i was so embarrassed, because it was alot. and plus we were at a hotel my mom worked for , so imagine the next day when the cleaning ladies had to go clean up the room and see the sheets. they probably thought someone was murdered. but i am sure it gave them something to talk about to everyone. and i am sure they called my mom to tell her because she always accused me of not being a virgin. she never believed me. so when i got back from my honeymoon i was about to throw away my teddy . it was white lace with a huge blood spot on it. i announced" well this isnt any good i might as well throw it away" that got her attention and she saw it and i saw the relief in her eyes and she told me just to soak it. i shoved that in her face. that i was a virgin and she should have trusted me. but i kept quiet. but dear nothing is worse than child birth but i believe the top 2 pains in a womans life is losing virginity and child birth after that anything is a piece of cake.

the only way your hymen can break is from sexual intercourse.
just a warning- I have heard different stories about the first time sex for women, but for me it was extremely painful and so much bleeding I almost passed out.
Think about it and be sure you want this painful, maybe embarrassing, and yet personal and special first time to be with this person.

you can stick your finger (washed with soap and water) in and feel around for it. if you are ready for sex, (sigh!) put a towel down, because it will bleed and it will hurt if its still there after all that horse back stuff. really, before you do it, look up stuff to make it memorable time! talk to older people around you that are nice, and ask them what about it- your mom (if she's cool) might suprise you- ask her when she lost hers for starters.(mine sucked! and i waited until i was a senior in HS) it's only once in a life time you get to give it away!

it is probably intact. tampoos would streach it at best.horseback ridding has nothing to do with it. the first time u have sex it is very very painful. it made me wonder what the fuss was all about, and i was sore the next day.if your not 18 or married, id advice to keep it. there are lots of problems with sex. all kinds of nasty std look here

I think you would have to have a gynocological exam to determine that...and if it is so what? tampons do not break it,unless you pushed them unhealthily in there,now sometimes giving pleasure with some things can. I have heard of horse riding constantly doing it..but not sure...You would have had some sort of show if you broke it..sm.amount of blood etc...

what 'cheesehead' said is totally wrong, you have probably broken, but if you want to be sure,then wiggle your finger around, as far as it reaches, but be ready for some blood, just in case.
