he went through Veggies and fruits and still eating that. I began to give him like lil pasta soups.

Is he considered Stage 2 now?

This confuses me, makes me feel dumb :(
How do I know when to move on? Teeth maybe?

No need to feel dumb. Babies and all the information out there can get quite confusing. The stages of commercially prepared baby foods is based mostly on the consistency of the product. Stage 2 is basically just a thicker version of Stage 1. He can eat either and be just fine. By 9 -12 months, babies generally can eat most table foods provided they are mashed or cut into tiny pieces. Moving on is best decided by your child. Try some Stage 2 foods, if he likes them and will eat them then it is fine to give him that. If he prefers Stage 1, that is fine, too. Teeth really have no bearing on what he can eat as a baby's gums are quite strong and even larger chunks of food such as pieces of mashed cooked carrot are easily gummed without causing a choking risk.

My son is also 7 months old and he is still eating stage 1's and I'm not moving on until he gets some teeth or I finish all the stage 1 foods... I don't really see a reason to move him up... right now he's getting cereal mixed with his fruits and veggies because he won't eat the cereal by itself.
Good Luck

The only difference in stage 1 and 2 is that stage2 has more in a can. The thickness and constancy are the same. So if he is eating more then 2 jars I would move to the bigger one. Once he has a couple of teeth start giving him cheerios or puffs. Once he gets that down start trying table food.

I think stage 1 is 4 months and older. Stage 2 is 6 months and older. It should say on the jar.

Our pediatrician said baby's are supposed to be eating meats by 6 months. That means they are ready for Stage 2 foods at 6 months. My 6 month old is already eating Stage 3 foods. He's ready for them... have fun!

First of all, if you are in doubt, ask your doctor. They know. He is old enough for 2nd stages now, but you can still include 1sts. especially the fruits. You shouldn't feel dumb, you aren't supposed to know everything if you are a first mommy. We learn with them. Hope your little one enjoys his foods, that is a good thing!

take the clues from ur baby. by 7 months my kids were eating table food. we'd smash vegetables but they still had texture. they could grip foods and had learned to chew. u r safe going to stage 2. if u notice ur baby is having a hard time getting it down. go back to one. the books are there as a guide but ur child will be ur true compass. they will let u know when they are ready.
