I have a friend who lives near me, and she doesn't have access to the internet, but she wanted me to ask a question for her. She is the same age as me, but a few months younger. She said she hasn't gotten her period for a long time. She has went on BCP to help her get it, but when she stopped it, the period stopped as well. She has never had sex, and I know this is entirely true due to the fact she does not want a boyfriend right now and she has not had one in 6 years. She said that she is not hurting from [not receiving it], but she's curious to what could be happening. I'm gonna transfer the information to her tomorrow, so anyone have an idea?

Its because she is not getting those hormones that are in the pill anymore, so her period has gone to being irregular.

If she wants to maintain that regular period, she needs to stay on the pills. When she goes off of them the hormones are no longer there and that is why she is not getting them at the usual time as when she did on the pill.

Tell her to talk to the doctor that prescribed her the pill. There are many reasons that her period may stop, some not so serious like stress, or it could be a sign of a much worse medical condition. She needs to go back to that doctor and ask her about it.

I can understand why her period would stop after stopping the birth control because it messes with your hormones and it will take her awhile to get back on track. However, you mentioned that she was having an irregular period before she went on the pill, so some of these answers aren't relevant.

To be honest , I have no clue . But you should just tell her to go to the doctor and explain to her/him what shes going through , it might be the best choice to make , and maybe even better for her . Wish her luck for me . =]
