First a disclaimer: Dish may not allow you to record in a VCR pay per view or premium content.

Second. make sure the VCR gets Dish Output. It can be directly from the set-top box or through the TV's video out (if available).

So connect as needed and make sure you can see Dish programming through the VCR output (loopback).

Since the VCR has not Sat tuner there are two ways to schedule programming:
a) By programming the VCR to start recording from Line In at a specified time, or
b) Your Dish DVR may actually have an IR transmitter!!
1) First setup the Dish box to use a code suitable for your VCR (read the Dish manual)
2) Then set Recording-to-VCR in the Dish box. At the correct time, Dish will send a 'Rec" command to the VCR to start recording

If yours is equivalent to different cable and satellite tv for pc receivers, that output would be analog channel 3 or 4, which you will choose from the container's menu. merely connect a quick patch cable between that jack and your VCR's antenna jack, set the VCR to channel 3 (or 4) completely, and application it interior the conventional way for the wanted time. you will ought to leave your satellite tv for pc receiver on the channel you like to record till the recording time ends.
