n = numerator, d = denominator
n/d * n/d = n^2/d^2
Multiply the numerators and denominators. The result will be the product of numerators will be the new numerator and the product of the denominators will be the new denominator of the new fraction. This procedure is true in all levels and not only in the 5th grade.

Agreed, the same way every one else does it.
But just for the sake of a refresher
numerator
________
denominator
multiply the numerators and multiply the denominators
seperately
so if you you multiply 1/2 x 4/5 you would:
1 x 4
____ =
2 x 5
4/10 ---> reduce that to 2/5 which is your answer.
hope that helped!

To multiply fractions, multiply the numerators together, multiply the denominators together and then simplify if possible
(2/3)(3/4) = 6/12 = 1/2

You just multiply straight across. Example:
5 * 2 = 10
2 * 3 = 6
So 5 over 2 multiplied by 2 over 3 equals 10 over 6. Then you can simplify and so on. Sorry I don't know if that makes any sense, i dont know how to do the bar line on the computer.

find a commen demonitater, which means find a number that goes into both the bottom numbers. (eg. 2/3*4/5- the commen demoniater would be 3*5=15) then u multiply the top numbers by wat eva numba u had to multply the bottem by 2 get the commen demoniater. in this case its 15, so i would hve 2 multiply the bottem by 4 and so i would hve 2 multiply the top by 5 as well 2 get 10/15
and i would hve 2 multiply the 5 by 3 to get 15 so must also multiply the 4 by 3 to get 12
now its 10/15*12/15. so u cn now multiply the bottem and top (10*12=120, 15*15=225 and factorise to get a smaller numba.
i know its long and confusin so just ask me if u need mre help. hope its useful!

1/3*1/5= 1/15.
2/3*3/2=1 (6/6). Just follow along the numerator and denominator (don't mix them up or invert them - that's what you do to divide [invert one and multiply])
Help?
