Why is it if there's wet paint somewhere, you have to touch it to make sure?

Don't you know?!?!?!!!! There's a curse!! If you don't touch the paint then you will be attacked by the paint monster. He will make sure anything you try to paint gets messed up or you have to paint several layers to get the color you want. If you ever really tick him off then you'll never get the right color paint that you want the first time and have to constantly go back to the store.

He's a mean monster.

Because your eyes can be deceiving, sometimes the lighting in a room can be dim and you don't get to see the gleam or the color on the wall, especially when it's almost dry. So that's why people have to touch paint to make sure it's dry.

If there's a wet paint sign on a public bench or something, you don't know how long it's been there for, and it could be dry, so it's not alway that stupid to touch.

It's on an impulse, I say. I think that people want to make sure, incase they're wearing something they don't want to get paint on, or they're doing the exact opposite of the sign that says don't touch.

For the same reason most people are COMPELLED to "moo" when driving past cows in a field, or compelled to finish the 'shave and a haircut' riff if someone plays half of it.
