ever go to a drive thru (specifically McDonalds) and sit for 20 minutes only to get the wrong order?....it just happened to me.....come on, i know that mistakes are made occasionaly but seriously folks, how hard can it be to take a burger and fry order with no frills and get it right!?!...don't get me wrong, i'm not knocking every person who works fast food but it would seem that you would need some level of intelect to serve the public.....i am so peeved about this right now and was wondering - should i be?....what would you do?....by the way, i'm already back at work so taking it back isnt an option.

You have a valid point!

This happens to many people, so I have heard. It is possible to make mistakes, but at fast food places it is rampant.

Your order sounds quite simple and you haven't asked for anything too difficult, or fancy or out of line. We can only blame the service for poor attention and report it to the manager. If they have new or challenged workers, it may never be addressed.

Sorry, I have done this very same thing you have.

Having worked fast food for a number of years, I can answer this for you. When a restaraunt is short-handed and busy, mistakes are more likely to be made. When an order is placed, it comes up on a screen for the baggers to fill. When it gets busy, and you are trying to fill 6 orders and you have them lined up in front of the chute, it is SO easy to make a mistake. Now, I'm not saying that every error is due to things like this; some people just don't get it and can't get it right, no matter how hard they try. Then there are instances where you only have 2 orders, and if someone else is bagging the orders and hands you the wrong bag to pass out the window, voila, the customer got the wrong order. I know it's aggravating, but you're not perfect, why do you expect fast food people to be? Mistakes happen, so next time, maybe you will check your bag before you leave the window, which is what most people do anyway.

All it takes is one person ahead of you to pull off without the workers seeing it, and every car behind them gets the wrong order. Did you really just compare Doctors to fast food workers? They get over 12 years of college and then an internship as training. Not to mention they are paid hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. Doctors and accountants are paid well not to make mistakes. Fast food workers are paid as little as legally possible. Let me try an example, let's say that at the McDonald's in question they managed to go a whole year without messing up a single order. if that happened business would go up and the owners would make more money, but what is in it for the workers. As a college student who currently works for KFC I can tell you that the workers will not get bonuses, raises, or profit sharing. All they will get is more work. To put it simply the only motivation they have is to not be punished. As you can see that doesn't work very well. There is no reward for doing a good job in the fast food world.

I used to cook when there were 40+ tickets on the line, totalling over 120 orders. I won't say I never screwed up, but I kept it to the barest minimum because it was MY place. The kids that work there don't care. I got in the habit that when McD's gave me my order, I'd pull over into the wait area and check it. I have no idea how many times I had to go back in and say "I ordered TWO fajitas, not ONE, and this is NOT iced tea!"

I have heard of people who called and spoke with the manager (upon returning to work and discovering the mistake) who ended up getting free coupons or other compensation.
Of course, where I live there is no concept of customer service, so this never worked for me, but ya never know! Could be worth a try. : )
My brother-in-law once went through a drive-thru and ordered a "chicken sandwich, with nothing on it" - when he opened his wrapper he got a BUN. They didn't even put the CHICKEN on it! LOL
Good luck : )

I know what you mean. its not that hard to get it right. I worked at Wendy's and rarely did i mess up an order. I know you can't take it back but there should be a number on your receipt. call and ask for the manager and tell him. If anything maybe he'll get the "crew" to straighten up or you'll get a little gift certificate or something. I know its ridiculous. if it happens again i'd find a new place for lunch. Good Luck!

I feel your frustration! I go to a McDonalds in my neighborhood and not only do they regularly get my orders wrong but as I see the cars in front of me being handed their orders, the customers frequently hand them back because something isn't right! So, even though you are ready to drive away after your order is handed to you, take the time to check what's inside that bag to save yourself the frustration we all have experienced. In other words, assume something is wrong or missing so check it!!! Good luck.

once you celebration till ultimately your hair smells like smoke, you have no longer have been given any thought the place the clothing you're wearing got here from, and you do no longer be attentive to how in the worldwide it have been given to be 3 days later, it somewhat is a celebration. I lived in an apt whilst i replaced into youthful with my terrific chum who replaced right into a drug broker at that element. I remember dozens and dozens of untamed roaring under the effect of alcohol and stoned events the place i did no longer have a clue who eighty% of the individuals at it have been, of direction the furnishings did no longer thrive in that atmosphere. i do no longer be attentive to no remember if the final straw for me replaced into the fool that concept pouring a bottle of vodka into the aquarium replaced right into a very good thought reason the "fish would desire to get lit too", or the fool I caught feeling my subconscious fiancee up, a scene particularly such as Jesus clearing the Pharisees out of the temple ensued after that one, i be attentive to that. besides Zacho, you have relaxing, yet for Me, i'm kinda happy it somewhat is throughout. i might say celebration with the aid of Boston. BA: Geeze, it would be an undesirable long checklist. **PJ, Amen on your amen, brother

Check out your receipt, usually there is a phone number that you can contact them if you have already made it back to work and speak with the manager about the situation and as long as you stay calm and respectful they will usually give you their name and then next time you visit they will compensate you in some fashion.
