Travel to Taipei @ Year End?

Question

Anyone out there has been to Taipei, Taiwan, umpteen times? Planning to go Taipei at year end during Christmas season but need to find out what's fun to do over at Taipei. If I want to stay at Central areas, which are the hotels should I be looking out for? NO red light district areas please. Another thing is any good manicure / pedicure salons over there plus if I want to go for soaking in hot spring water, where should I go & how do I get to those places? Thank you...

I prefer these 2 hotels whenever i go to Taipei, one is Rainbow hotel near Hsimen Station, and the other one is Baguio Hotel near Chung Hsiao Fu Xing Station. Both of these hotels are near to shops, shopping centres, bookstores, restaurants, eateries, etc...
And most of all, they are very centralised and you can travel to lots of places easily from these 2 areas.

In Hsimen Street, you can also find lots of manicure/pedicure salons, not to mention shopping centres.

For hot springs, i would suggest that you go to Beitou cos that area is well known for its hot springs. You can board the metro and it would bring you directly there.

Call the airline and ask them about the connecting time, and if travelling between airports will allow you enough time to make it. Orbitz isn`t too busy after 11 pm ( current BC right?) and the staff should help you very well- although when my schedule was changed and I had to deal with the airline directly, the airline itself was more than happy to assist me. BTW you have 4 hours, as long as you don`t waste time at the restaurant you should be fine. Skip checked baggage and you`d be laughing at 4 hours. Worst case- tip your cabbie $40 to get you there now, I`m sure he can lol.

If you wan to stay, choose near the train station, such as Fortuna hotel, Rainbow hotel in XiMenDing. Depend on you, you want scenery view trip, shopping trip or just makan(吃) trip... Nightmarket are most popular for eating and shopping which are cheap and good. For hotspring at Yang Ming San, you have to take a cab there, for Beitou hotspring, you can take the train.
