2*1=2
2+1=3
Hence 3/2

Just like 5 1/2 converted to an improper fraction becomes 11/2.

Multiply the denominator by the constant then add the numerator to that number. That will give you the answer.

Hope that helps.

The denominaor of the improper fraction will be the sme as the denominator of the fractional part of the mixed number.
The numerator of the improper fracdtion is obtained by multiplying thr integer of the mixed number by the denominator of the fraction and then dding the numerator of the fraction in the mixed number. Another way to think of it is to convert the integer part of the mixed number to a fraction with the same denominator as th fraction in the mixed number. So for 1 1/2, change the 1 to 2/2 then add it to the1/2 and get 3/2. QED

The rule is you multiply the denominator by the whole number, that equals 2, then you add the multiplication of the denominator to the numerator. that equals three, keep the three in the numerator and ALWAYS leave the denominator the same. your answer is three halves or 3/2, this rule will always work for converting a mixed number, into a improper fraction. TRY IT!!!!!!!!!!

You multiply the denominator with the whole number, 2*1=2. Then add the numerator with your answer, 1+2=3. Now the numerator is 3 and the denominator will stay the same. Giving you 3/2 for an answer

1-is the whole number
In the fraction: 1 is the numerator
2 is the denominator
multiply the whole number (1) by the denominator (2) 1x2=2
then add the numerator (1) to the result 2+1=3
that is the new numerator that goes over the denominator, so you now have 3/2

Well: 13/9 = 9/9 + 4/9 = 1 and 4/9 First you get the top number (numerator) the same as the bottom number (denominator) then you take the denominator (9 in this case) and subtract it from mixed numerator (in this case 13) and you get 9/9 which equals 1 and then you get a let over 4/9 which is left over.
