yes. i think you can.
just like if you have cancer and you really truly fight the cancer and you really really want to live you can beat the cancer. so it is with the will to die.
if you really truly want to die just focus on dieing. you can probably shut down.but it wont be easy , because it is inborn within us to survive. at the last minute that last gasp of air.

It would have to be a lot more than just losing interest in life.
Like it or not, most people have to get up and leave the house every now and then. You never know when something, somewhere is going to spark your interest. I've had times when I thought it would be easier to check out. Obviously I never did. Someone or something always came along to make life worth living. I dont know who you're talking about-but all I can say is-never give up hope.

If someone is very ill, a negative attitude would hinder that person's recovery; whereas a positive one would help to speed recovery. Yes, a person could indirectly die if he or she has lost all interest in life, as a deep depression can lead to suicidal thoughts. I hope you are not the "someone" in your question, because if you are, then you need help to resolve the issues that prompted you to ask this question.

Yes, you can die of a broken heart if it goes on long enough. A broken hearted person often doesn't eat, doesn't sleep and refuses to leave their bed. Without nourishment and exercise, the body will wither and slowly die. However, medical intervention usually comes from a family member or through the county or province before death occurs in that situation.

I don't think losing all interest in life is fatal or terminal in every single instance, but I do think people can give up on life quite literally and stop living. Most of the time, I'd like to think that something changes around them or within them that makes them see things differently or motivates them to seek out some kind of help before they slip away.

It depends. If you look at older couples that have spent thier whole lives together, many of the spouses don't live long after thier partners die. I have heard it is becasue of heartbreak or becasue they just don't have the will to continue.

My grandmother survived 11 years after my grandfater passed. But of those 11 years, she only LIVED 6 months. The rest of the time she was in am home and really not concious of what was going on around her.

If one loses the will to go on, they will eventually die, usually by suicide.

It happens to elderly people a lot, they lose the will to live and die. I would imagine it could happen to younger people too, massive depression, no desire. If they quit doing the necessary to sustain their life.
