I just got 3 baby RES and I think I really know a lot about them. I have done lots of research too. I got mine ReptoMin baby food and they REALLY love it!! Also they eat bloodworms. I gave mine some minnows and they love to chase after those and eat them. They love to eat dead minnows too!! But before you buy a turtle I want you to know that they really cost a lot of money! You will need a filter, heater, aqaurium, rocks, health conditioner. Maybe more. In all i paid about $100 or more for everything that i got and i am still going to get more for them.
If you have any question feel free to e-mail me anytime!! I hoped that this helped!!

1. It is against federal regulations to buy a turtle under 4" long. Many stores ignore this, but do you want to buy anything from a place that ignores federal regulations?

2. Use the pellets for about 1/2 of the diet, and use various live or frozen./thawed 'fish foods' for the rest- small fish, snails, worms, krill, insects, shrim[p, etc.

3. Check out http://www.redearslider.com for some great info.

llol! its illegal to own turtles under 4inches due to the fact they have very high risk of having salmonella, but buy him GUPPIES, not gold fish, not rosie reds or anyother feeders, feed him guppies because they are small enough for the small turtle, when[or if] he grows, feed him larger feeder fish. turtle food pellets, earthworms from a fish bait store or anywhere else, as i treat i feed my turtle raw shrimp from the grocery store [grey/brown color] and cut them into small cubes, one cube at a time, also crayfish when he is larger than your palm as a treat.
