get comodo firewall,i use it and NONE of my ports are open,Ive tested it online with JAVA apps and fake malware downloads and it doesn't let them thru at all its a great program.

Hi!
Use a firewall or some more advanced security solution like an All-In-One Internet Security Suite (McAffee, BitDefender, AVG and much more).
There are free firewalls too. Download. Install. Make sure you allow your programs (like your browser, messenger, etc) to connect. Most likely the firewall will ask you this.

You can block or disable the ones you know you don't use through your router, if you use one at home. You can also use software firewalls, such as ZoneAlarm to monitor and block suspicious activity in any of your ports.

I need a lot more info on this. What sort of system do you have? What are you doing? Where did you learn of your need to do this and why?
